The bridge world celebrated new online champions at the end of March: the Viking Queens (Virginia Chediak, Torild Heskje, Ranja Sivertsvik, and Gunn Tove Vist) won the title in the 3rd edition of the WBF Online Women’s Teams.
The event brought together 65 teams from 40 countries, with 395 players competing over three days. Played in an asynchronous format, each team could schedule its matches according to its availability and time zone, making the tournament truly global and accessible to all.
The Viking Queens came out on top of a strong field to claim first place, earning a free entry to the McConnell Cup at the 2026 World Bridge Series in Katowice (Poland) this coming August. Second place went to Thunder (Adi Asulin, Nancy Katz, Hila Levi, Dana Tal, Noga Tal, and Migry Zur-Campanile). The podium was completed by E18 Norway (Aase Biribakken, Siri Hove Bjerge, Marianne Homme, and Anja Prestvik).
WBF President Franck Riehm highlighted the “excellent organization” of a tournament “destined for a bright future.” The online format continues to grow each year, offering a platform for high-level competition to players who might never otherwise have had the opportunity to compete on the international stage. See you in 2027 for the 4th edition!
