Bridge explained for beginners
Learning bridge is easier when you can see it in action. Watch this short introductory video to understand the flow of the game, the role of each player, and what makes bridge such a fascinating game.
Bridge rules simplified for beginners
Bridge may look complex at first, but at its core, it’s a simple partnership game. You and your partner try to win more tricks than your opponents
Four players, two teams
Bridge is played by four players sitting around a table.
You and the player opposite you form a team, while the other two players form the opposing team.
Get your cards
The dealer gives each player 13 cards. You’ll use them to play 13 tricks, with one card played by each player per trick.
Bid, then play
Before playing, players take turns bidding how many tricks their partnership expects to win, and in which suit or in no trump. The final bid becomes the contract.
Count your points
If you meet your contract, you score points. If you don’t, your opponents score instead. It’s as simple as that!
