In these unusual books, David Bird and Larry Cohen combine to present cardplay and defence instruction in a new way. 100 pairs of deals are shown – one described by David and the other by Larry. The deals look similar (in some cases very similar) but an entirely different line of play or defence is necessary to make or defeat each of the contracts. Only by clearly understanding the techniques involved will you be able to tackle such deals when you encounter them at the table.

The original “Shark’s Pointers” article appeared in 1975, in a small Boston-area newspaper. Thirty years later, the idea re-emerged as a series of bridge columns and lectures in Massachusetts. Then during the pandemic, Shark’s Pointers went online, and it is these latter talks and the advice they contain that have now been collected into this book.
