Do not preempt over a preempt. Instead, jumps should be strong. Three spades is about right here, showing the equivalent of a one-spade opening and jump rebid to three spades — 16-18 or so, with a good six-card suit. The alternative of doubling and then bidding spades is broadly the same hand strength but more flexible. However, if you have only five spades, you need to be slightly stronger.
