I agree with the recommended answer for the basic bridge quidam aware only of long suit trial bids, but disagree on the reason. Once you have an agreement on a suit, any other suit you call has a conventional meaning.
In non-antediluvian bridge however, 2N should be used here as a short suit trial start (partner, say 3C unless you have your own splinter then mention your short suit) and you will continue here with 3S (non forcing) showing your C splinter (could be a singleton, then not a high honor singleton). partner will then decide whether his hand is worth going to game. I also disagree that the opener’s hand is worth a game: it all depends on partner having no wastage in C.
Now, standard methods are still prehistoric in most places. But as a minimum, they should have short suit trial bids, whereas usually long suit trial bids only are taught, an obvious heresy, to be purged by all means! Therefore, standard methods will then use here the 3C bid to show a C splinter, and let partner decide whether to land in 3S or show 3N (natural max to use the C honors) or a first/second round control.
