I started playing bridge in high school as an activity approved by the principal (which gave us a “private” room to use during the lunch period.  I drifted away for about a year because my regular partner graduated one year before me and was off to college.

In college, I lived in a dormitory house where most of the residents played bridge to some extent or other.  One friend, who knew what he was talking about, insisted I learn to play the game properly, starting me on my lifetime journey.  He collected a small group and we went to our first tournament, where we won some points; consequently, I joined the ACBL.

I haven’t stopped playing since.  Along the way, I’ve made many friends, and become a much better player than when I began my journey.  My partners have always inspired me to improve my game to match their own prowess.
